PATRONAS2.jpg

In the continuation of the project Patronas, called "Entremeios", Vera and Mariana Porto, return to the subject that interests them: Develop a work to understand the environment and its fragile beauty, with the desire to think how our work can affect others and how what happens to others can affect us.

Inspired by the images of the drought, of the worn Earth, in its roots and contours and in the presente beauty behind this wear and tear, it tried to express this ideology in a possible part of being used and loaded. The created pieces were designed to be used as jewelry for the body or for the home. The result keeps Vera and Mariana faithful to the use of sustainable materials such as flax, bone, horn and wood, as well as the preference for organic forms, handmade by national artisans, composing a product that values the richness of our culture and the luxury of our crafts.

Ten percent of the value of these pieces will be reversed to the works of the Ong Nova União de Arte

The strength of friendship. This is the motto and the starting point of the creation of the joining of values and affinities that Vera Cortez and Mariana Porto imprinted in this work. They began formless, working with freedom and without a formal concern. They thought about all beings and shapes and every material that could fit in this encounter and slowly refining, finding ways and connections, sometimes difficult to explain.

The intensity, its transforming power and the potential of a work that arouse slowly, in between laughter and talks among two friends that have known each other and have shared life experiences for the past 30 years. Together they discovered that this work has a mystical influence, a multiplicity of life, of each other’s origin, of the strong presence of nature, its ethnic references. These elements gained shape, reconciled aesthetically, bringing great satisfaction for both of them.
